Would you recommend this school to another parent?
I would urge any parent considering Halliford School to look beyond the prospectus and examine the culture of the school very carefully before making a decision.
My son attended Halliford and was persistently bullied by both pupils and, regrettably, by members of staff. He was clearly not academically suited to the school’s narrow expectations, and rather than being supported, this was met with a lack of understanding, empathy, or appropriate pastoral care. The impact on his confidence and long-term wellbeing has been profound and lasting.
I intervened on multiple occasions, raising concerns directly with the school. Despite these efforts, nothing materially changed. There was a consistent failure to take effective action, address behaviour meaningfully, or safeguard a child who was clearly struggling. The absence of accountability and follow-through was deeply concerning.
In my experience, Halliford does not respond well to children who fall outside its preferred academic or behavioural mould.
When support is most needed, the systems in place appear insufficient, and parental concerns are not met with the seriousness they deserve.
For these reasons, I believe the school’s leadership and governing body should be held to account for the culture they oversee.
A school should be judged not by how it treats its strongest pupils, but by how it supports its most vulnerable. On that measure, Halliford fell significantly short.
I strongly advise prospective parents to investigate thoroughly, speak to former families, and ask hard questions before entrusting their child’s education and wellbeing.
What are the school's greatest strengths?
They promote well! But don’t be fooled
